OUR
PURPOSE
FROM AWARENESS
TO ACTION
ARCH is a dynamic hub empowering individuals, families, and professionals with knowledge, resources, and relationships that inspire progress.

OUR
AMBITION
BRIDGING GAPS, PROVIDING ANSWERS, SUPPORTING JOURNEYS
ARCH serves as a central hub, making the search for aphasia resources simple and accessible, so no one has to navigate recovery alone.
“One Hub, Endless Resources”
ARCH is a network dedicated to promoting advocacy, education, and the exchange of information.

HOW DID ARCH BEGIN?
One of our founding members, Angelique Cauthorn, survived 2 strokes in May 2017 that left her with neurocognitive issues including aphasia. Having never heard of aphasia before her strokes, she looked for information about how to navigate life with a language impairment. She attended a support group and then learned about a research study at Temple University. There she met Dr. Nadine Martin, the Principal Investigator in the Aphasia Rehabilitation Research Laboratory, and they discussed creating a group to help people with aphasia learn about all different types of resources in one place - and that's how ARCH was born.
ARCH is organized with 3 groups in mind:
-
People with aphasia and their families who can learn about choirs or exercise groups or support groups for psychosocial support.
-
Researchers in the aphasia field can notify people in ARCH about research studies and other opportunities.
-
Clinicians or speech-language pathologists in acute care and rehabilitation settings can have a reliable source of information to direct to their clients as well as hear about breakthrough research in the field.

We believe through participation and engagement, we can sustain a network that empowers all members of the aphasia community.
